Business Directory

2004 Cortland County Industrial and Major Employer Directory

A 2004 version of the Cortland County Industrial and Major Employer Directory is now available on-line and in print. The original directory was first produced in 1895.

In 2000, the Cortland County BDC-IDA completely revised the format of the directory to include a list of employers in various industry sectors with a desription of their NAISC code, product or service lines, range of employment levels and key company contact information. The 2004 version, is now available from the BDC-IDA in a new four-color print version.

The Finger Lakes Business and Technology Park Brochure

The Finger Lakes Business and Technology Park is being developed for small to mid-sized companies interested in presenting a strong corporate image in an upscale campus-like environment that is particularly suited to industry sectors such as nanotechnologies and microelectronics, information technology, software development, research and development, and bio-technology and life sciences. The Park is located at the exit of Interstate 81 and has been targeted for attractive incentives at the state and local level.

Linking River and Rail - The Tioughnioga Railroad Corridor Historic District & The Marathon Train Station

Marathon Station reopens in 2003, after 45 years, for use as a passenger rail station. The story of the station, its proud history and grand rebirth, is a tribute to the spirit of downtown revitalization and historic preservation that is alive and well in the Village of Marathon, and a fine example of what can be accomplished through creative public-private partnerships.

Agribusiness Resource Guide

The 44-page resource guide is meant to help agribusinesses sort their way through assistance programs available from federal, state, regional and county agencies. Included in the guide is information on new agribusiness assistance programs available through the BDC/IDA, as well as a comprehensive overview of technical assistance and grant programs through the USDA, New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, American Farmland Trust and other agencies. Also highlighted are major resources for local agribusinesses such as the Cortland County Soil & Water Conservation District and Cortland's Cooperative Extension Service supported by Cornell University.
