The Town of Taylor

Introduction

The Hamlet of Taylor is a curve on NYS Rte. 26, between Cincinnatus and Pitcher. This small, unassuming Town changed the history of the nuclear industry when, supported by Cortland and Chenango Counties, they refused to be the site of a nuclear waste dump.

History of the Town

The Town comprises 18,738 acres and 1724 parcels, with a small pond in almost the exact center. The little settlement by the pond is called Taylor Center, or Solon Pond .
