Site information:

The Finger Lakes East Build Now NY Business Park is located in Cortland County, NY at the gateway to the scenic Finger Lakes region. The park is within a 30-minute drive of Syracuse, Ithaca and Binghamton, NY, along the Interstate 81 corridor, which connects Canada and Upstate New York with the Washington DC metro area.

Cortland County is at the geographical center of New York State and at the southeastern section of the Finger Lakes Region, a scenic area containing hundreds of lakes formed during the glacial age. The area features glacial mountains and rolling hills, idyllic valleys, scenic vistas and sparking lakes, and is one the most beautiful regions in New York State.

Cortland County is also situated at the center of an intellectual corridor between Cornell University, Syracuse University, Binghamton University, SUNY Upstate Medical Center, SUNY ESF, SUNY Cortland and Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3). This location creates an available workforce of scientists, engineers, computer specialists and industrial researchers, as well as highly trained specialists. There are few places that offer better access to world class university technology centers with leading edge collaborations between universities, private industry and state government. Cortland works closely with nearby New York State Centers for Advanced Technology:

Introducing Upstate New York’s newest Smart Park ...

The new 300 acre Finger Lakes East Build Now NY Business Park is a partnership between the Cortland County Industrial Development Agency, Empire State Development (ESD) and the Governor’s Office of Regulatory Reform (GORR). The site was selected for the Build Now NY program and is designed to be an upscale campus-like environment particularly suited to companies in information technology, software development, R&D, life sciences and bio-related sectors. The project features sophisticated land use planning, high quality architectural and landscape design, and utilizes environmentally friendly technologies -- making it both a “Smart Park” and a “Green Park.” SUNY’s prestigious school of Environmental Science and Forestry is partnering with engineering firm O’Brien and Gere to make this a signature project for both design and new technologies in Upstate.

The natural features of the site are extraordinary. It is a flat, spacious property, bounded by scenic vistas of hills, and it is located directly adjacent to a 400 acre nature preserve, Lime Hollow Center for the Environment and Culture. Lime Hollow is a partner in designing this project, and the two sites are connected by an impressive walking trail network. A portion of Finger Lakes East features a highly unusual geologic formation -- a glacial kettle lake that dates back to glacial times -- which is being preserved as part of the nature sanctuary.

The environmental review process (SEQR) has been completed for the park, streamlining the local approval process, and making the site virtually shovel-ready for a company in search of new business location.
