The Business Development Corporation is the lead economic development agency in Cortland County, New York. A private, publicly funded not-for-profit local development corporation, the BDC offers a range of programs and services that retain, create, and attract jobs to Cortland County. Measures Would Assure Costs Higher Than Incentives for Businesses
June 14, 2010, Cortland, NY - The Cortland County Industrial Development Agency and the Cortland County Business Development Corporation have gone on record in opposition to proposed state legislation that among other things would set prevailing wage mandates for all IDA projects.
The companion bills, proposed by Assemblyman Sam Hoyt (D-Buffalo) and Sen. Antoine Thompson (D-Buffalo), would add an average of 28 percent to the cost of projects in upstate New York, according to the Center for Governmental Research.
COUNTY FARMERS MARKETS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
June 4, 2010, Cortland, NY - Cortland Four of five Cortland County Farmers markets will be open for business this weekend as the calendar quickly approaches the first day of summer.
The city’s Main Street and East End markets, as well as markets in Cincinnatus and Homer are already open, and the Virgil market will serve customers beginning June 12.
